   OLYMPOS

Established in the Hellenistic Age (around the second century B.C.), the city of Olympos was perhaps the eastern most of the Lycian cities. Named after the famed Mount Olympos (of Lycia), the city was dedicated to Hephaestus and was a hot seat of Hellenistic culture (and also religion).

A principal member of the Lycian League, Olympos was a rich and flourishing city. However, the continual pirate raids in the past few centuries plagued the city and impoverished it of all its glory and importance.

Its location amidst a national park area surrounded by hills and spread on either sides of a tranquil stream, proximity to a naturally formed beach and a Chanpaigne climate makes Olympos the choice of those who look for a relaxing holiday. Olympos’s extended past, shrouded partly in mystery and partly under the dense woodland makes for a charming journey into the historic times.

Long ago it was
Zeus he was,
the God of Gods,
Having chosen to live in heaven on earth,
Resided on the Mountain of Olympus.
Following his heart down the Mountain
Found joy in shared moments

Moments and places cherished with the mortals
that were true to him, true to themselves, true to heart
Moments and places Zeus then blessed with immortality
Heavenly it was
Heaven on earth it still is
Just...
Follow your heart
